Nearly extinct, lampshells (
Brachiopoda) are two-shelled, marine animals which resemble mollusks. In contrast to clams they do not move since they are attached to the substrate by a fleshy "stalk" or pedicle. We provide comprehensive descriptions including morphology, life cycle, and other biological features of lamp shells or brachs.
