Lysophosphatidyl acyltransferase (LPAT) is a pivotal enzyme controlling the metabolic flow of lysophosphatidic acid into different phosphatidic acids in diverse tissues. We examined putative LPAT genes in Arabidopsis thaliana and characterized two related genes that encode the cytoplasmic LPAT.
