I kept it light by using just the necessary amount of canola oil, 1 1/2 teaspoons, and crisp turkey bacon to make the little crumbles that top off this dish. I love that this dish is pretty easy to throw together but looks interesting and elegant on a holiday table. Ingredients:
Club root has a long history as a pathogen on crucifers (members of the Brassica or mustard family). The disease was first reported in Europe during the 13th century. It is now found worldwide and has an extensive list of cultivated and weedy cruciferous hosts as well as a few ornamental flowers.

Brussels sprouts are grown for harvest in the fall because cool weather during maturity is essential for good flavor and quality. Brussels sprouts are tall (sometimes 2 to 3 feet) erect biennials that are grown as annuals. The sprouts develop in the leaf axils and mature along the stalk.
Cover; microwave at HIGH 7 to 9 minutes or until tender, stirring after half the cooking time. Set aside, covered. Place green onion and butter in small bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1 ½ to 2 minutes, or until onion is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drain Brussels sprouts.
The lateral buds of intact Brussels sprout plants contained less auxin and gibberellin than the main apex. When the apex was removed the auxin content of the top lateral buds increased within 2 days, but gibberellin activity did not increaseuntil shoot extension was apparent.

I love them too, as does my son, and we both eat gobs of them quite regularly. They are sublime sauteed with butter, garlic, and shallot, finished with a splash of white wine, sp to taste. I might go cook up a mess o' sprouts right now.
