This is Andrew typing. I'm not sure what happened, but it looks like I might have accidently cut off the intro to this short "article" sent to me by Jeff. Basically, the email I received from Jeff concerned a few stories originating from Kirtland, Ohio, detailing the Urban Legend of Dr. Crowe.
Though farm work is strenuous and exhausting, this photograph suggests that jovial camaraderie could sometimes relieve the strain of being in the fields.
This variety is also known as Balsaam Pear and Bitter Melon. Fruit is waxy in appearance with protruding nodes on its surface. Color ranges from green to white and size can vary from 6-12 inches, depending on variety. Flesh is firm and crisp and can be extremely bitter. Use and Preparation:
Stir in the syrup and lemon juice. Taste carefully. If the melon is not fully ripe, you may want to add a little more syrup. Cover and freeze the fruit puree in ice cube trays [we needed 2.5 trays worth]. When frozen, place several cubes at a time into a food processor and puree until smooth.
