Cherry

Top > Horticulture > Fruits > Cherry

The commercially important sweet cherry (Prunus avium) is a different species than the sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) which is mainly used for cooking only. Cherries are prone to various pests and diseases, susceptible to damage from rain and hail, have a very short fruiting season, and entail comparably high costs of production. We provide information about the numerous aspects of production of cherries including cultivation, pests and diseases, harvest, postharvest and storage.
