Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa var. pekinensis, Brassicaceae) refers to the tight-heading type of Oriental cabbages. The two major types of Chinese cabbage are separated by shape of heads: elongated, cylindrical types and short, blunt, barrel shaped types.
